What personally identifiable information MeowMail collects and how it is used

During registration, you provide MeowMail with certain personal information, including your name, address, email address, birth date, gender, zip code, and phone number. Once you provide MeowMail with this information, you are no longer anonymous. You do not have to answer these questions, and you can decline to provide MeowMail with this information at any time. However, if you should choose to withhold requested information, you will not be eligible to participate in MeowMail promotional contests and we may not be able to provide you with other services that require the collection of such information.

From time to time, MeowMail may ask you for additional personal information. This may include registering with one of our partners, entering into a contest, sweepstakes, or promotion sponsored by MeowMail and one of our partners, or filling out a user survey. MeowMail may also keep a record if you contact our customer service center. MeowMail may collect additional information at other times. This Privacy Policy will be available through a link for you to review when we ask you for additional personal information.

Users and members should note that when you are on MeowMail, you may be directed to other sites that we do not control. For example, if you "click" on a banner advertisement or a MeowMail search result, the "click" may take you off the MeowMail site. You may also click on link from advertisers, sponsors, and partners that use MeowMail's logo as part of a co-branding agreement that will lead you to sites that we do not control. These other sites may independently collect data, solicit personal information, or send their own cookies to you. In certain cases, this information may be shared with MeowMail.

We use the personal information you supply us to enhance the MeowMail service and personalize your experience. We may also use information concerning your search requests to present you with targeted advertising. We also gather information about you in connection with the operation of MeowMail contests, sweepstakes, or promotions. With respect to the contests, sweepstakes, or promotions, we need this information in order to notify you if you are a winner, to ensure that we comply with applicable sweepstakes laws, and, in general, to operate the contest, sweepstakes, or promotion programs.

We use the information that we gather to develop summary–not individual–reports for our advertisers. An example of a summary report might be "1,000,000 people clicked on this link and of those people, 65% were registered users between the ages of 24-35." We provide this information to help our advertisers to determine how best to promote their products.

We never identify to our advertisers the individuals that saw or clicked on their advertisements unless you have specifically told us this is acceptable. We may also send you email communications containing information that we think you will find to be valuable, including information about new products and services offered by MeowMail or its partners. It is our policy only to send email to users who give us permission to do so and you may tell us at anytime that you no longer wish to receive such communications.

As we note above, MeowMail may link you to third parties that we do not control. We strongly encourage you to review the policies of any such third parties to whom you may give personally identifiable information.

What choices are available to you regarding the collection, disclosure and distribution of your information

You can always choose whether or not to disclose information through MeowMail. However, you must provide certain information if you wish to register as a MeowMail user and to participate in any MeowMail contest, sweepstakes, or promotion. At your option, you may also provide us with additional information from time to time. For example, MeowMail may offer additional services from time to time that may require that you provide personally identifiable information in order to use that service. We use "cookies" to improve your experience while on MeowMail, to let us keep track of certain statistical information that helps us improve our site, and in connection with the operation of any MeowMail contests, sweepstakes, or promotions.

What cookies are and how they are used

As a standard practice, MeowMail may assign a random number to each user for anonymously tracking that user's content preferences and traffic patterns. This random number is kept in a file on your computer called a "cookie." Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to determine the identity of any user: MeowMail would never know who you are unless you specifically tell us. MeowMail would use cookies to track user entries in MeowMail contests, sweepstakes, and promotions. Cookies would also allow MeowMail to keep track of how often individual users are using specific areas of our site without really knowing who those users are.

MeowMail does not require users to accept cookies in order to enjoy the site. You can set your browser to reject cookies, or to notify you when MeowMail sends you a cookie. You should be aware, however, that some areas of MeowMail may be significantly slower, or may not function at all, if cookies are disabled. Most importantly, if you reject cookies, you may not be able to participate in MeowMail contests, sweepstakes, and promotions.

It will also be shared with MeowMail's partners that provide some of the personalized content on our site and other third parties unrelated to offerings on MeowMail, but only if you have given your permission for this to occur. Personal information that you provide when signing up for free MeowMail e-mail, or in connection with other services, such as MeowMail Shop 'til You Nap, may be shared with the providers of these services.

Other companies placing advertising on our site may collect information about you when you view or click on their advertising or content. MeowMail does not control this collection of information. You should contact these advertisers or content providers directly if you have any questions about their use of this information.

MeowMail will not disclose your personally identifiable information without your permission unless we need to do so in order to comply with applicable law, a subpoena, or other legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public. MeowMail does not sell or rent individually identifiable information about its users to any third party without first receiving the user's permission. If MeowMail intends to share your personal information with a third party, we will notify you before doing so, and you will have the opportunity to prevent this transfer. You can elect not to use certain services or participate in certain promotions if you do not want your information shared with third parties.
